The skin system is overhauled, with colour gradients customisable layer by layer. A new giant redwood biome appears, with trees over 90 metres tall, alongside a hill-sliding mechanic for more believable movement. Seven species are announced, including Quetzalcoatlus, and a cinematic Steam trailer rounds it off.
The Isle January 2025 dev blog announces seven new playable species: Austroraptor, Baryonyx, Kentrosaurus, Oviraptor and Avaceratops first, followed by Camarasaurus and Quetzalcoatlus. Each species will go through HordeTest before hitting the Evrima Live server. Summarized by La Meute QC.
In The Isle Evrima, the hill slide mechanic lets dinosaurs climb steep slopes by moving sideways, but going downhill puts them in a sliding state. It also fixes an old bug where running downhill on steep terrain launched players with fall damage. The dinosaur now enters a slide state and stays grounded, further differentiating biped and quadruped gameplay.
The Isle's Redwoods biome includes around ten unique trees built specifically for the game — from small saplings to 300-foot-tall giants. The team refused standard marketplace assets to ensure a unique visual identity. The massive trunks feature detailed textures and geometry displacement, complemented by ground cover plants like clovers and leafy foliage.
