Eurhinosaurus (Greek for "well-nosed lizard": eu "good", rhino "nose", sauros "lizard") is an extinct genus of ichthyosaur from the Early Jurassic (Toarcian), between 183 and 175 million years ago. Fossils of this marine reptile have been found in Western Europe (England, northern and southern Germany, the Benelux, France and Switzerland). It lived in the deep open sea. It was a large ichthyosaur: the average adult was about 6 metres long and 450 kg. Eurhinosaurus belongs to the family Leptonectidae, within the group Neoichthyosauria.
