In Hearts of Iron IV Thunder at Our Gates, Ship Captains work as a naval implementation of Division Commanders. Each individual ship gets a captain who gains XP from being onboard and can receive medals with specific naval effects. A detailed history log tracks combats, sinkings and assists. A destroyer captain will naturally become a better admiral for destroyer fleets.
Regimental Support Companies in Hearts of Iron IV Thunder at Our Gates are a new customization layer between divisional support and line battalions. They add stats to a division without overloading combat width. They only attach if a regiment has enough line battalions, and some companies are incompatible with motorized or armored battalion types.
The Division Designer in Hearts of Iron IV Thunder at Our Gates becomes available to all players and receives a visual overhaul. It is enlarged to fit a 720p screen, now displays a combat width indicator directly in the division grid, better highlights resources and production costs, and adds hotkeys (shift-click) to instantly fill regiments with same-type battalions.
