Two DLCs in two months — Paradox accelerates HOI4's pace

Paradox Interactive has changed strategy for Hearts of Iron IV in 2026. After expensive large expansions, it's time for Focus Packs and Theater Packs — smaller, more targeted DLCs at reduced prices. A distinctive feature of 'Peace for Our Time': it was developed in collaboration with veteran HOI4 community modders — Logan 'Spicy Alfredo' Calkins, Abbus Fung and Marijn 'marijn211' Vroegh. A Paradox first, officially integrating community creators into the DLC development process.

Peace for Our Time — Czechoslovakia and the Munich Agreement

The Czechoslovakia focus tree covers four distinct ideological branches. The Democratic branch allows forging one's own faction, creating a government-in-exile, or promoting Slovak independence. The Communist branch opens socialist revolution or regional federation through the Comintern. The Monarchist branch aims for the restoration of the Kingdom of Bohemia, and the Fascist leads to an expansionist military dictatorship.

Specific mechanics include 'Divided Nation Decisions' to manage internal tensions between opposing parties, an 'Army Industry Management GUI' for armament prioritization, and a new 'Army Readiness Balance of Power' for military stability. The DLC also adds 'Fort Destruction' technology as a new special project, 3D dioramas of Prague Castle and Bojnice Castle, and original music.

Free patch 1.18 — Submarines and German AI reworked

Patch 1.18 accompanies the DLC launch and is free for all players. Submarines receive a new detection formula with a complete rebalancing. The faction contribution naval warscore drops from 0.125 to 0.1 to align with land warfare. Spies are harder to capture and remain hidden 28 days after a mission.

Three Pacific nations are featured: Australia (alliances vs Japan / political instability), Siam (manipulating rivals to build a Southeast Asian empire), and Indonesia (independence from the Dutch / alone / new patron). Launch is set for June 11, 2026 with patch 1.19.

The free patch 1.19 will introduce three new base features: Military HQs for strategic general deployment and local command, Ship Captains for named captains with progression toward admiral rank, and Regimental Support for support units attached to divisions. 'Thunder at Our Gates' in June 2026 is worth watching closely for our HOI4 community — the 1939-1945 Pacific theater is an area of operations that many French-speaking HOI4 players explore less than the European front. Australia and Siam offer radically different gameplay angles.
