GTA 6 — official $80 price and November 19 release
$79.99 Standard, November 19 release, pre-orders open June 25 — Rockstar made it all official at once
On June 24, 2026 Rockstar made Grand Theft Auto VI's price official: $79.99 USD ($109.99 CAD) Standard, $99.99 USD ($139.99 CAD) Ultimate. Release November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, pre-orders open June 25. The physical box holds only a code. Editions, details and analysis.

Price made official, date set, pre-orders open
Rockstar settled it on June 24, 2026: Grand Theft Auto VI launches November 19, 2026 on PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-orders opening June 25. The Standard edition is $79.99 USD ($109.99 CAD), the Ultimate edition $99.99 USD ($139.99 CAD). A PC version is confirmed, but only after the console launch — Rockstar's usual playbook (GTA V: consoles first, PC 18 months later).
The Standard edition's $79.99 ends months of rumours pegging it at $99.99 out of the gate — Rockstar finally aligns with the new AAA floor set by Nintendo and Microsoft. The development budget, estimated around $2 billion, remains the highest in video game history. One sore point: the "physical box" holds no disc at all, just a download code.
What Trailer 3 shows
The 4-minute trailer is the longest and most informative of the three. We see Vice City (clearly inspired by Miami) and the Leonida region — a fictional state that encompasses rural areas, swamps and small towns outside the metropolis. The density of detail in the environments is impressive: vegetation, dynamic weather, NPC crowds.
- Lucia confirmed as main protagonist — first female protagonist in the main series since... never
- Jason (male co-protagonist) playable in certain missions — two-character structure
- Character movements and facial animations with realism never seen in a GTA
- Visible in-game economy: buying real estate, vehicles, managing legal and illegal businesses
- GTA Online integrated from launch — no 3-month wait like GTA V
Lucia — Rockstar's bet
Lucia is presented as a former convict looking to rebuild her life in Vice City while maintaining a criminal life in parallel. Her relationship with Jason creates narrative tension — they have aligned goals but not always the same methods. The trailer shows dialogue moments where the two characters disagree on important decisions.
Rockstar appears to have seriously invested in Lucia's writing. The motion capture performance is remarkable in the trailer. It's the first sign that GTA 6 wants to be more than a sandbox with a generic story.
The two editions and their CAD prices
| Edition | USD Price | CAD Price |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 79,99 $ | 109,99 $ CAD |
| Ultimate | 99,99 $ | 139,99 $ CAD |
No Deluxe edition and no physical Collector's: Rockstar offers only these two. The Standard gives the base game, the Vintage Vice City pre-order pack and one month of GTA+ (Rockstar's subscription) on digital purchases. The Ultimate adds exclusive vehicles, weapons, clothing and tattoos woven through Jason and Lucia's story. The $30 gap between the two is purely cosmetic — no story content is locked behind the Ultimate.
November 19, 2026 — the date is locked
No more vagueness: Rockstar is targeting Thursday, November 19, 2026, right in the middle of the holiday window to maximize year-end sales. It's also a Thursday — an unusual launch day that sidesteps the Friday already crowded with Call of Duty and November's other heavyweights. Digital pre-loading starts November 12, a week ahead.
Pre-orders: where, when, and the Vintage Vice City bonus
Pre-orders open June 25, 2026 at midnight local time, on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store and at retailers. Any pre-order — or any purchase before November 20 — unlocks the Vintage Vice City pack: a '55 Vapid Stanier sedan with its garage, '80s outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and an exclusive weapon pattern. Digital pre-orders add one month of GTA+.
The sore point: the in-store "boxed" version contains no disc, only a download code. No GTA 6 discs are being pressed at launch. For collectors and anyone on a limited connection, that's a real shift — the box is just packaging now. GTA Online, on the other hand, ships day one, without the three-month wait GTA V imposed.
La Meute QC verdict — should you pre-order?
GTA 6 is the most anticipated game of the current generation. The price question at $109.99 CAD is still fair — it's expensive — but GTA V cost $79 CAD in 2013 and has been played for 12 years. If GTA 6 has the same longevity, the cost per hour stays negligible. And the Standard at $79.99 USD rather than the feared $99.99 is a half-pleasant surprise.
On pre-ordering: no rush. The Vintage Vice City pack is granted on any purchase made before November 20, so pre-ordering today gives no edge a launch-day purchase wouldn't. Rockstar has always delivered, but at $110, you may as well wait for the first independent reviews — you only miss minor cosmetics, never story content.
